Public Speaking Fears off

It’s a surprise to know that fear of public speaking has been found to be one of the major fears haunting the mandkind and this fear takes the higher position than the fear of death. Fear is a dangerous emotion as well as an obstacle for your development, especially in your career ladder. So overcoming this fear is one of the biggest challenges and importances in life.

If I were the head of a government, I will first initiate steps to rid my people of the fear to speak in public. This is more important than any other development activity because living with fear is like running a race with a heavy stone tied to our feet. You not only have no chance of covering the distance, not to speak of winning the race, you also have to be in pain throughout the time you are running. Just as cutting off the stone from your feet will make you run fast and enjoy the activity, freeing you of public speaking fear will make you live life with confidence and cheerfulness.

Fears Of Public Speaking

When I first recognized my fears of public speaking it really wasn’t a big issue. It was more of an inconvenience rather than a mentally crippling issue, as it became over time. Like most things we experience and suffer with, fears of public speaking was something I thought affected me and not other people. Boy was I wrong. After talking about it and doing some research I learned it is ranked as the number one phobia / fear that people have. That alone helped me feel better about it but it didn’t help relieve the problem.

My fears of public speaking got worse over time. At first it was uncomfortable to speak as a young girl in school in front of the class, which didn’t seem to be a problem. Heck, most kids don’t want to get up in front of the class because our “friends” like to torment and ridicule, as kids are so good at doing. But the public speaking fears grew over time like a weed in my mind. I couldn’t kill it no matter what I did. But eventually I found a way that was easier than I could have ever imagined. The first part was to recognize what this was, I wasn’t alone in this and it could end. Little did I know the traditional ways of going about ending public speaking fears are like trying to hold the tide back at the beach when it’s coming in. Fat chance sister.

Public Speaking Fears

If you think that you are alone in your public speaking fears, get ready to be disillusioned. It has been confirmed by several surveys that the fear of speaking in public ranks very high among the most common universal fears. In fact it is the number one fear of people in several parts of the world. You are in good company after all!

Like the fear of death, fear of public speaking has no barriers of race, region or religion. Perhaps, I shouldn’t be comparing the fear of death to fear of speaking, because fear of death ranks only second. This can be interpreted to mean that given the choice, one will rather choose death over a public speaking task!

The realization that you are not alone in suffering from the fear of speaking in public and that you have the backing of the whole world should be comforting! After all, you are not alone, afraid even to disclose your fears.

As you are feeling comfortable and relaxed, I can enhance your feeling of relaxation with another axiom.
