Without a doubt, the majority of us had or will have to give a public speech. Whether it be at college, or at work the point is you will have to deal with it. Public speaking for beginners isn’t something you should take lightly. You have to be ready by knowing what you will face, so you can better prepare both your speech and yourself.

When the times comes and you’re assigned to give a public speech, here are a few things that you should know so that you can be better prepared to match your audience’s needswhich is actually your ultimate goal.

You need to know who you will be speaking to. Other college students? Local residents? Etc.
How big the audience is? Your speech preparation will vary depending on if its a small or big sized audience.
What are the main age groups within your audience? Is it going to be teenagers or successful businessmen?
Are there any ethnic/culture/language considerations? Be very careful on this one. You’d absolutely never want to insult someone by saying something, even if you do it by accident. You want to win your audience and get them on your side, not make them your enemy!
Where will you be speaking? At your college class? Open area? Local park?
